Trust & safety

What each verification badge actually means.

We verify identities, licences and behaviour so buyers can tell who’s legitimate at a glance. Every badge below corresponds to a real check: documents on file, registers cross-referenced, humans in the loop.

Every badge, explained.

Each badge is an independent check: a single account can carry one or all five. The chip you see on a listing is the same chip rendered here.

Premium
Vetted

Vetted. Our deepest check: manually screened, top-tier accounts.

MyRent has done a hands-on review of this account: who they are, how they operate, and how past listings have performed on the platform. Vetted is rare on purpose: we only grant it to agencies and individuals with a track record we'd recommend to a friend.

What we check
  • Identity + licence verified at minimum
  • References from past clients or partner banks
  • Manual review of every active listing for accuracy
  • Ongoing behaviour audit (Vetted can be revoked)
Professional
Verified Agent

Verified Agent. Licensed agent or agency reviewed by MyRent.

A real, working agent or agency that we've reviewed. Their identity matches a real licence on file (or, for agency staff, an agency relationship we've confirmed). The most common professional badge. If you're contacting someone on the agent side of the marketplace, expect to see this.

What we check
  • Government ID confirmed
  • Agent licence or agency employment confirmed
  • Contact details match a registered Maltese business
Credential
Licence Verified

Licence Verified. Broker licence on file with the Malta Property Brokers register.

This account holds an active property-broker licence under Maltese law. Licence Verified means the licence number has been cross-checked against the public register, not just that someone typed a number into our form.

What we check
  • Licence number submitted and cross-checked against the public register
  • Licence expiry monitored (badge auto-pauses if it lapses)
  • Name on licence matches the name on the account
Identity
ID Verified

ID Verified. Government-issued ID confirmed.

We've seen a valid passport, EU ID card or Maltese residence document for this account and confirmed it matches the name on the profile. This is the baseline: every Vetted and Verified Agent badge requires ID Verified underneath.

What we check
  • Document scan reviewed by a human
  • Selfie liveness check matches the document photo
  • Stored encrypted, never shown publicly
Contact
Phone Verified

Phone Verified. Working phone number, confirmed by SMS.

The phone number on this account has been confirmed via SMS. It's the lightest of our verifications: it tells you the line is real, not that the person behind it is. Combine with ID Verified or higher for a full picture.

What we check
  • SMS code sent to the listed number and confirmed
  • Re-verified if the user changes their number
How it works

How we actually verify.

A three-stage pipeline. No automation-only approvals; a human reviewer signs off on every badge before it goes live.

01

Submit

The user uploads documents (ID, licence, agency letter, etc.) through their dashboard. Encrypted at rest, never shared.

02

Review

A MyRent reviewer cross-checks every document against public registers and the rest of the user's profile. No automation-only approvals.

03

Stamp

Approved badges appear on every listing the user posts. Anything that lapses (expired licence, changed number) is auto-paused.

Other badges

Not all badges are verifications.

You’ll see these chips on listings too. They’re trust-adjacent, useful, but they aren’t about identity. Read them as behaviour or placement signals, not safety guarantees.

Featured

A paid promotion: the listing has been boosted to the top of relevant searches. Says nothing about the seller's identity; check for verification badges separately.

Quick Replier

Quick Replier

Earned by replying to inquiries within an hour, on average, across the last 30 days. Behavioural, not identity-based, granted automatically and revoked the same way.

FAQ

Common questions

Can I trust someone without a Verified badge?

Maybe. Most listings on MyRent are from private owners who haven't gone through verification, and the vast majority are legitimate. Verification is about confidence, not safety. If you're sending money or signing anything, prefer accounts with at least ID Verified, and meet in person.

How long does verification take?

ID Verified and Phone Verified usually within 24 hours. Licence Verified takes 1–3 working days while we cross-check the public register. Vetted is by invitation: we reach out to accounts with a strong track record.

Can a badge be revoked?

Yes. Licences expire, phones get switched, and behaviour audits sometimes turn up issues. We auto-pause a badge the moment its underlying signal goes stale, and we'll email the account holder explaining why.

Is my ID document stored?

We store an encrypted copy until the badge is granted, then keep only a non-reversible hash for audit. Documents are never shown to other users, and we don't sell or share them with third parties.

I'm a private seller. Should I bother?

ID Verified and Phone Verified take minutes and visibly raise inquiry rates: buyers contact verified accounts 2–3x more often. The other badges are for licensed pros and our top-tier vetted accounts.

ID + phone verification takes minutes. Buyers contact verified accounts 2–3× more often, and the badge sits on every listing you post.
